BANDIPORA, September 28: Continuing with Block Divas initiatives of Lieutenant Governor Administration, special public grievance redressal camps were held across Bandipora district on Wednesday to get the first hand appraisal of the issues faced by the public.

      The public interaction programme witnessed huge participation of locals who were enthusiastic about presenting the issues of the area before the District administration teams.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr. Owais Ahmad attended the Public Darbar of Aloosa Block and gave patient hearing to all issues put forth and took spot decisions for Speedy action.

      He was accompanied by Senior Superintendent of Police Mohammad Zahid, Member District Development Council Ghulam Mustafa Khan, Additional District Development Commissioner Ali Afsar Khan, Assistant Commissioner Revenue Abdul Rashid Dass, Chief Planning Officer Imtiyaz Ahmad and other senior officers of the district.

       Apart from other issues people stressed on bringing the Wullar lake on tourism map, upgradation of PMGSY roads, availability of pure drinking water and ration, availability of subject teachers in Schools, Solid Waste management in Panchayats, renovation of water bodies, macadamization of roads and filling of potholes besides highlighting the issue regarding growing menace of drug abuse  among youth. 

Responding to the grievances and issues flagged during the Block Diwas, DC Bandipora passed on spot direction to redress the greviances . He said Rs 200 Cr project is under execution to beautify Wullar lake and efforts are on the ring the lake on tourism map. He said several measures have already been taken to attract tourist including development of parks around Wullar , dredging and cleaning of the lake and construction of Boulevard.

SSP Bandipora appealed people to cooperaote with the police in curbing the menace of drug abuse. He assured full support to eradicate the menace from society.

Later DC Bandipora visited 8KMS Malanagam PMGSY road where macdamization has been done on half of the road. Locals including DDC member Ghulam Mustafa Khan raised several issues and on spot directions were passed to revenue, PMGSY, and RDD department to redress rhe greviances.

DC Bandipora also called for adopting zero tolerance against encroachment of water bodies and instructed revenue and Irrigation and Flood Control Deptt to ensure removal of encroachments.

Sub-Divisional Magistrate Sumbal Dr Bashir Ahmad Lone and Sub-Divisional Magistrate Gurez, Dr Mudasir Ahmad Ahmad Lone also attended the Block Diwas at their respective headquarters where they heard the public grievances.
