Srinagar, Dec 17 (KS): Meteorological department on Sunday said that no significant weather activity till 28th December in Jammu and Kashmir.

An official from MeT told news agency Kashmir Scroll that in past 24 hrs weather, light snow recieved over higher reaches (Gulmarg, Gurez, Machil, Tanghdar, Mughal Road, Sinthan Pass).

The official said that from 17-22nd December, weather will remain generally dry. On 23rd December: generally cloudy weather expected with possibility of light snow over isolated higher reaches, he said.

He said From 24-28th December, weather will remain generally dry.Overall no significant weather activity till 28th December, he said.

Regarding the minimum temperatures, he said that fall by 2-4°C expected from 18th December onwards. Jammu and Kashmir experiences a widespread cold snap as temperatures drop across key stations, he said.

Srinagar, the summer capital, he said, shivers at minus 0.5°C, while Qazigund also record sub zero at 0.0°C, he said.

Kokernag, he said, record sub-zero temperature at minus 0.8°C. Pahalgam, a renowned tourist destination, sees a low of minus 1.5°C, he said.

Winter has firmly set in, with Kupwara registering 1.1°C, he said. (KS)
