KARGIL JANUARY 31, 2021: Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Kargil Feroz Ahmad Khan along with the Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Baseer ul Haq Choudhary and Superintendent of Police Kargil Anayat Ali Choudhary today kicked off the Pulse Polio Immunization (PPI) Programme, 2021 in the district by administering polio vaccination drops to a 1 and a half year infant at District Hospital Kargil.

During the (PPI) Programme, 2021 held across Kargil District today, thousands of children below the age of 5 years were administered polio vaccination drops to protect them against the crippling disease.

Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Kargil Dr Munawar Hussain Wazir, Deputy CMO, Kargil Dr Mumtaz Ahmad War, In Charge Medical Superintendent District Hospital Kargil Dr Fatima Nissa, Block Medical Officer (BMO), Kargil Dr Kacho Liyaqat Ali Khan, Community Health Officer (CHO), Kargil Syed Muhammad Shah besides doctors, paramedical staff and other officers and officials of Health Department, Kargil were present on the occasion.

The CMO Kargil informed on the occasion that a total of 382 Pulse Polio Immunization booths have been set up in the district across all blocks to vaccinate 16184 children of 0 to 5 years age group. He further said that 1592 health personnel including Pharmacists, ANMs, Anganwadi Workers and Ashas have been deployed to achieve the target besides 75 Supervisors have also been deployed to ensure overall supervision of the programme.
It was further given out that a Door to Door Campaign will be held on 1st and 2nd February, 2021 to ensure that no child remains unvaccinated.

To achieve 100% coverage of the Pulse Polio Immunization (PPI) Programme, 2021, transit camps have also been established across the district.

Vaccines and other necessary logistics have been dispatched in advance to all the blocks and snowbound areas of the district including Drass and Zanskar.

Feroz Khan while speaking on the occasion appreciated the Health Department Kargil for putting up all necessary arrangements across all blocks for conduct of the PPI programme in the district despite severe cold. He also hailed the efforts of Government and media functionaries for ensuring prior awareness about the PPI programme in the district.

Meanwhile, the CEC called for well coordinated and extensive efforts from the deployed machinery so that every child below the age of 5 years in the district is covered under the programme so as to protect them against the crippling disease.
