GANDERBAL, MAY 17: Recently launched Youth Week in Ganderbal district witnessed huge participation of youth in Skills Challenges and Innovation & Entrepreneurship Games on day 3 of Youth Week, which is a part of the Youth Entrepreneurship Festival, Ganderbal.
The Festival is organized by District Administration Ganderbal to promote entrepreneurial zeal and promote skill Entrepreneurship among th local youth.
Under Ganderbal Skill Challenges, 10 Art, Craft and Hard Skill Challenges have been organized till now. On Day 1, Painting & Calligraphy Competitions were held, which witnessed a huge participation from the school students. Besides Art Events, Photography and Videography Challenges were also organized on Day 1. On Day 2, Department of Handicrafts, Ganderbal organized three craft challenges- Zari Embroidery, Sozni Craft and Willow Wicker. The applicants were registered and after a theory cum viva test, artisans were shortlisted for the final day of the event on Day 2 of Youth Week in which artisans showed their skills in the craft.

The success stories were also presented in the Event which aimed to motivate the youth of the district to start an entrepreneurial venture and revive the traditional craft. A representative from the Department of Handicrafts Ganderbal, showed the scope and demand of Handicrafts in the world market.
Today in Industrial Training Institute (ITI) Ganderbal, on Day 3 of Youth Week, trade competitions were held in Welding, Plumbing, COPA and Carpentry trade. The participants were screened by a theory test for the final skill test on Day 3 of Youth Week. General Manager, District Industries Centre Ganderbal, inaugurated the hard skills event and said that the future job market belongs to skilled workforce only.
Besides, Ganderbal Skills Event, One of its kind Innovation and Entrepreneurship Games events were held on the Day 3 of the Youth Week. Today, two Entrepreneurship Games were held – Blue Chip Challenge and Idea Hunting Challenge. In Blue Chip Challenge, participants from school and colleges were simulated with a case study of a Blue Chip Company and were given assignments to identify the problems addressed and need fulfilled by the company and further assigned to give a presentation on the identified problems and needs. Similarly in Idea Hunting Challenge, School and College students were exposed to the problems being faced by the world and they were assigned to give individual and team innovative solutions to solve the problem. Both of the games were preceded by expert sessions so as to teach the students about techniques of idea-building and solving case studies.
Youth Week will go on till May 20 and Youth Entrepreneurship Festival will continue with numberof events in the upcoming weeks. The winners of various events shall be awarded cash prizes.
