Kargil, Dec. 15: Several delegations called on Hon’ble Lt. Governor Brig (Dr) BD Mishra (Retd.) on Thursday at Raj Niwas, Kargil on the fifth day of his visit to Kargil.

The Hon’ble Lt. Governor was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC, Kargil, Shrikant Suse, Senior Superintendent of Police, Kargil, Anayat Ali Choudhary and Joint Director, Information, Ladakh, Imteeaz Kacho.

Captain Yashdeep and Lance Naik Hira Singh of the Bomb Disposal Squad of 203 Counter Explosive Device Unit met the Hon’ble Lt. Governor and discussed the crucial issue of demining unexploded shells at Kurbathang Plateau. In view of the urgency owing to the approaching harsh winters, Hon’ble Lt. Governor instructed the team to expedite the exercise of demining by increasing the number of teams in order to ensure the safety of the region.

A delegation led by Executive Councillor, LAHDC-Kargil (Tourism/I&FC/PHE/Urban Dev./Revenue) Kacho Mohammad Feroz comprising Councillor Town Haji Abbas and Councillor Baroo Khadim Hussain apprised the Hon’ble Lt. Governor about various developmental issues in Kargil Town. The issues raised included the demand for an Urban Public Health Centre (PHC) at the old District Hospital building, the need for tendering various developmental projects including macadamization of roads, de-congestion, town beautification and river-front beautification, the need to make the Iqbal hydel Project functional, extension of JJM scheme in the District and land compensation cases on the Kargil-Zanskar Highway.

In respect of the demand for Urban PHC, the Hon’ble Lt. Governor directed the Director, Health Services, Ladakh to pursue the matter. In respect of the need for various pending developmental projects of Kargil Town, he directed the concerned to examine the case. Regarding the beautification of Kargil Town, the Hon’ble Lt. Governor observed that this crucial aspect should not go unnoticed.

Regarding the upgradation of the Iqbal
Hydel Project, he directed the Secretary, Power Development Department to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR). In respect of the need for extension of JJM projects, the Hon’ble Lt. Governor assured the delegation that the needful will be done.

A delegation of Self Help Groups (SHG) informed the Hon’ble Lt. Governor about non-payment of TA Bills during the Saras Mela at Haryana in 2022. He passed instructions to the DC/CEO, LAHDC, Kargil to examine the case.
A delegation led by Advocate Zarina Bano, President, Mahila Mandal, BJP-Kargil called on the Hon’ble Lt. Governor and highlighted various issues related to women in Kargil.

The issues included demand for imparting training courses in various skills. He gave a patient hearing to all their issues and said that their genuine demands will be processed through the Handicraft and Handloom Departments, during the winter season with payment of stipend. The Hon’ble Lt. Governor gave a patient hearing to all their demands. He then directed the Director, Industries & Commerce to look into the matter regarding need for training during winters and extend all possible help. Responding to concerns over high charges for CT-Scans in Kargil’s District Hospital, the Hon’ble Lt. Governor directed DC/CEO LAHDC, Kargil to look into the matter and ensure early resolution.

During his interaction with the delegation led by Haji Ghulam Mohammad, former Councillor, Parkachik, the Hon’ble Lt. Governor was apprised about the damaged bridge in Panikhar, need for tourism-related development in the area as well the agricultural sector. In respect of the bridge, Hon’ble Lt. Governor directed the Border Road Organization (BRO) to take necessary action at the earliest and on priority in order to ensure that the inhabitants of the area do not face any inconvenience.

On the other hand, the delegation led by Councillor Bhimbat, Abdul Wahid raised the issue of delay in completion of construction work of the Middle School building at Chokiyal Village. In this regard, the Hon’ble Lt. Governor directed the CEO/DC, Kargil to look into the matter and have the doors and windows of the building fixed immediately.

While responding to the demand of the delegation from Darchiks and Garkone Villages regarding establishment of fruit processing units, the Hon’ble Lt.Governor directed the CEO/LAHDC, Kargil to examine the viability of the proposal.

The Hon’ble Lt. Governor interacted with various other delegations and individuals from across the district including members of the Noorbakshiya Community; Officials of various departments; casual labourers of FCS&CA Department; staff of KGBV, Minjee; a physical lecturer, social activists, persons seeking financial assistance and others. The Hon’ble Lt. Governor directed that their genuine demands will be looked into within specific timelines.
