Kargil, Dec 15: Chairman/CEC, LAHDC, Kargil, Dr Mohd Jaffer Akhoon today chaired a meeting with Commander 762 BRTF, VIJAYAK, Ajay Singh, addressing issues related to the National Highway.

Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Kargil (I&FC), Kacho Mohammad Feroz, Councillor Bhimbhat Constituency, Abdul Wahid, Councillor Poyen, Mohd Amin and Councillor Lankerchey, Ghulam Haider attended the meeting.

CEC Dr Jaffer urged Commander VIJAYAK to extend jurisdiction from Zero Point to Baltal, considering the welfare of the people, to open Zojila for an extended duration during the winter season to facilitate Ladakh residents.

The Commander assured to take up all the matter with higher authorities. He provided insights into VIJAYAK’s plans and Detailed Project Reports (DPRs).

In the meeting, the CEC proposed a tunnel project from Umba to Drass and asked Commander VIJAYAK to submit a comprehensive proposal and submit the same to the concerned Ministry.

Councillor Bhimbhat highlighted the need for constructing flyovers on the National Highway at accident-prone and densely populated areas like Masjid Gam, Bhimbhat and Thasgam. Additionally, he advocated for the engagement of local labourers in the VIJAYAK project.

Councillor Poyen also briefed Commander VIJAYAK on various issues and urged him to involve local laborers from his constituency.

Later, a delegation of local labourers engaged with VIJAYAK outlined their concerns to which Commander VIJAYAK assured swift resolution of their issues.
