Police has apprehended two persons namely Mohammad Alyas Khan s/o Zahid Khan R/o Calcutta A/P Ganderbal and Imran Ahmad Sheikh @ Billu s/o Afzal Sheikh R/o Calcutta A/P Humhama who were found involved in burglaries in Humhama and adjacent areas.

Over the last couple of years, Police Post Humhama had registered more than 25 FIRs in which gold, cash and other household items, etc have been reported to have been stolen.

On a tip off, Budgam Police zeroed in on the two arrested persons amongst suspects and during questioning, the thieves disclosed to have targeted houses that they found unattended.

While divulging details, the duo claimed to have checked the houses if they had CCTVs installed or otherwise and only broke into the houses where they saw the inmates leaving the houses unattended during day time mostly and without CCTV cameras.

While some recoveries of golden ornaments (Approximately 550 grams valuing roughly 16 lakh Rupees), Tag Heuer Wrist – Watch, batteries and other valuables worth Rs. 2 Lakhs have been made as per the confession of the thieves, more arrests and recoveries are expected in the coming days.

Pertinently, with these arrests and recoveries Budgam Police has solved 09 cases while further efforts are on to trace the remaining theft cases.
