Strict action will be taken against violators:SSP Ganderbal Mr Khalil Poswal

Ganderbal (Sonamarg) 11 April (KNZ):– The 434-km Srinagar-Leh national highway, the only road connecting the Kashmir Valley with the frontier region of Ladakh, was officially thrown open today for carrying essential supply vehicles after remaining closed for six winter months.

The highway was thrown open for the traffic carrying essential supplies by SSP Ganderbal Khalil Ahmad Poswal, SDPO Kangan Tahir Ahmad, Sho Sonamarg, Lateef Ahmad, Dysp Traffic Ganderbal, Tehsildar Gund Fareed Ahmad and other BRO officials in Sonamarg traffic-Point here.

SSP Ganderbal Mr Khalil Poswal in a press briefing said that the today only 18 authorised Oil Tankers allowed to move towards Ladak and in second phase trucks carrying vegetables and other essential commodities permitted to ply from Srinagar towards Kargil and vice a versa in particular days.

SSP said movement of pedestrians, passengers vehicles, trucks and other vehicles is prohibited, and only driver and conductor will be allowed in these authorised vehicles allowed to ply in the highway.

Meanwhile Srinagar-Leh highway remains closed for four months from the middle of December to middle of April each year due to heavy snowfall, especially on the Zojilla Pass that connects the Valley with the cold desert Ladakh region.KNZ
