Ganderbal 09 Sep (KNZ):The Women’s of Sindhbal area of Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Saturday held a protest against the Jal Shati Department Ganderbal
The Women’s protesters were raising slogans against the Jal-Shakti department for failing to provide uninterrupted water supply to their area.
A lady protester said we are without water for the last one month and are forced to drink contaminated water.
She said, our area has been without proper drinking water for the past one month, and it seems like the department has turned a blind eye to the basic problems faced by the people in this area
The women’s have appealed to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and District Development Commissioner Ganderbal Shyambir to intervene and resolve the “grave issue” faced by the people of the village.
Officials from Jal Shakti department said that a portion of the locals are resorting to using water motors which disrupts the equitable drinking water supply to neighboring areas.
He vowed to take stern action against those responsible for using water motors.
He said Our task Force teams visited the spot and seized the equipments and the drive will continue to prevent further suffering of the locals.KNZ
