Ganderbal, April 28, 2018:- In order to boost the livelihood of fishermen, Department of Fisheries Ganderbal today organized a draw of lots function at National Fish Seed Farm Manasbal for the selection of self help groups for distribution of 04 number of fiber glass fishing boats under blue revolution scheme.
On the occasion, Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Ganderbal, Mr. N.A Baba who was also chief guest on the occasion was apprised that the department is also providing other schemes including financial assistance for the construction of their houses to the fishermen.
In addition, the Assistant Director (AD) Fisheries said to uplift the community the department is also providing nylon twine to fishermen to fabricate their nets, financial assistance for construction of trout and carp fish pounds, transportation facility in the shape of auto rickshaws and bicycles for carrying the fish catch to the market for sale etc.
Addressing the fishermen community, ADDC Ganderbal asked the fishermen’s to avail the benefits of different state and centrally sponsored schemes to boost the fish production in the state.
Earlier, the ADDC Ganderbal stocked the common carp finger lings in Manasbal Lake to increase the fish production of the common carp in the lake.
Assistant Director Fisheries Ganderbal, Manzoor Samoon, Chief Agricultural Officer Ganderbal, Assistant Commissioner Development Ganderbal, District Panchayat Officer and Chief Project Officer National Fisheries Farm Manasbal were also present on the occasion.
