Inspects progress on road widening on Pandach-Beehama, Saloora-Rampur Road

GANDERBAL, AUGUST 11: Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Shafqat Iqbal today said that roads make a crucial contribution to economic development and growth and bring important social benefits.

He made these remarks during his visit to various areas of the town to have firsthand appraisal about progress on ongoing road widening on Pandach-Beehama Road besides to assess the condition of roads which are not macadamized in the town.

During the visit President, Municipal Council Ganderbal, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Ganderbal, Farooq Ahmad Baba, Ex.En R&B, Tehsildar Ganderbal and other concerned officers accompanied the DDC Ganderbal.

During visit, he inspected the road widening progress on Pandach-Beehama road, Saloora-Rampur road besides inspected various important inner and link roads of the town.

During the visit, the DC said District Administration has taken slew of measures to decongest the traffic in the district especially at main town. He said in this regards several bottle necks are already removed in the main town especially demolition of several structures at Beehama chock which was a long pending demand in the district.

 He said that roads provide access to employment, social, health and education services thus a sophisticated road network is crucial in fighting against poverty. 

Saying that road infrastructure is the most important of all public assets which open up more areas and stimulate economic and social development, a comprehensive macadamization plan is already laid down so that all important roads of the district are developed in a phased manner, he added.

On the occasion, the DC urged upon the concerned to relocate the utilities like electric poles to appropriate location as per guidelines.

Later DC also visited the main Ganderbal town market where he urged upon people to follow the laid down SOPs and guidelines with regard to COVID-19.
