Srinagar 27 April (KNZ):In order to ensure the quality of Medicines/Drugs being sold to the patients and to regulate the prices of the drugs in markets,the Drug Controller department Ganderbal and Bandipora on Friday Suspended 4 medical shops for violation of different provisions of the act.

Drug Controller Officers of District Ganderbal and Bandipora Bilal Ahmad Rather and Miss Hadiya Shah on Friday conducted surprise inspection on the directions of Assistant drug Controller Ganderbal /Bandipora Nageena Akhtar at various retail sale outlets of medicines in Ganderbal and Bandipora and closed down four medical shops for violation of various provisions of Drug and Cosmetics Act.

Official said, atleast 33 drug sale establishments were checked with regard to maintenance of records of NRX drugs and adoption of Computerized billing system and maintenance of CCTV footage and CCTV footage of several shops was checked on spot by the team.

Assistant drug Controller Ganderbal/Bandipora Nageena Akthar told that on Friday Drug Inspectors Ganderbal and Bandipora inspection at various locations of two districts during the inspection they closed four medical shops on spot for different violations.

She said that the department has already sensitized chemists to adopt a robust system for maintenance of records and CCTV surveillance to plug in gaps to avoid misuse of essential life saving scheduled formulations.KNZ
