Sumbal, Aug 4: A little girl is battling for her life after being critically injured in an accident near Sarie Dangerpora area of Sonawari on the evening of first Eid. The areafalls under the jurisdiction of Police Station Sumbal here in North Kashmir.

Family members demand stringent punishment to the guilty who according to them is a Juvenile and was driving a Creta vehicle.

“Both father and the son should be punished. How can a father be so irresponsible that he handed over the keys of his vehicle to his son,” the family of the little girl questioned.

On Saturday around 6:12pm,Nahida, an 8 year old girl was crossing the road at Sarie Dangerpora, when a speeding car(JK01AM19) hit her. She suffered major injuries and has been on ventilator support since then at SMHS Hospital Srinagar.

Bilal Ahmed, the daughter of the victim girl, told news agency KNT that they came to know that the Creta vehicle was driven by a minor, identified by Kamran Zahoor Lone from Mirgund Pattan. He managed to escape from the spot and is still evading arrest. “Police have arrested his father but we demand action against the father-son duo,” he said, adding that her little baby is battling for her life and he can’t see her dying.

“What disturbs me is that the culprit is roaming free. The son should be booked for the accident while his father should be booked in a separate case as to why he allowed his minor son to drive the vehicle,” he said.

When contacted, a top police official said he will check. “So many accidents take place here. Let me check, I will get back to you,” he said. (KNT)
