Poonch 21 Oct (KNZ):Police Technical Training Institute (PTTI) Vijaypur observed National Police Day on 21.10.2021 to pay homage to the police martyrs, who laid down their precious lives while maintaining sovereignty, security and integrity of the Country.

On this occasion, contingents of Police participated in the Commemoration Day Parade.

While speaking on the occasion, Shri Khalil Ahmed Poswal, JKPS, SSP, Principal PTTI Vijaypur, briefly explained the history behind the National Police Day. He said on 21st of October 1959 when a police party of Central Police Force was on patrolling duty on Indo-Tibtian Border, the Chinese Army attacked on the patrolling party. The police party fought bravely, in which 10 police personnel achieved martyrdom besides some received injuries. Ever since that incident, every year Police Commemoration Day is being celebrated across the Country in the memory of the Police martyrs. He said that since 2006 this day is being observed as National Police Day. Principal PTTI Vijaypur also read over the names of 377 police officers/officials including 17 police officers/officials of J&K Union Territory who made supreme sacrifice for the country during last one year.

Lastly Principal PTTI Vijaypur and other officers which include Shri Rajinder Singh Rahi, SP, Vice Principal,  Shri Sajjad Ahmed Khan, Dy.SP (Indoor/PIO), Shri Satish Kumar, Dy.SP (Admn./Outdoor), Inspr. Anil Sagar, (RI/CDI),  Inspr. Neeraj Kumar (CTI), Inspr Manoj Kumar Bali, Inspr. Surinder Paul Singh,  Inspr. Sunil Kumar, Inspr. Anil Kumar, Inspr. Rakesh Bamba, Inspr. Rattan Singh, Inspr. Vivek Kalsotra, Inspr. Vishal Kumar, Inspr. Bhopinder Singh, all NGOs and staff, laid floral wreaths/showered flowers at the Martyr’s Smark.
