Srinagar, Nov 20 (KS): The Principal Secretary of the Power Development Department (PDD) in Jammu and Kashmir, H. Rajesh Prasad, spearheaded a comprehensive review of the power supply scenario.

As per news agency Kashmir Scroll, In a high-level meeting with Managing Directors, Chief Engineers, and senior officers, Prasad unveiled a stringent curtailment schedule based on regional power availability.

Emphasizing a zero-tolerance policy for unscheduled power cuts, Prasad underscored the imperative of avoiding overdrawal to uphold grid discipline and financial prudence.

The meeting revealed substantial infrastructure improvements in recent years, supported by loans under key government schemes, clearing longstanding dues to power generators.

In a bold move, Prasad directed engineers to combat power pilferage through stringent enforcement, prioritizing areas with regular payments for uninterrupted power supply.

Despite increased energy dispatch, concerns were raised about revenue realization, prompting directives for timely billing and swift resolution of power outages.

These directives aim not only to enhance the reliability of power supply but also to fortify the financial health of the power sector, reflecting the government’s unwavering commitment to stability and growth in Jammu and Kashmir’s energy infrastructure.

This strategic overhaul is poised to ensure a resilient and responsive power sector for the region, marking a significant step towards sustainable energy development. (KS)
