HANDWARA: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, police have arrested two drug peddlers in Handwara and recovered contraband substance from their possession.

A police party of Police Station Kralgund during patrolling at Ganapora crossing intercepted two suspicious persons who tried to flee from the society but were apprehended tactfully.

During search, around 100gms of Charas like substance was recovered from their possession. They have been identified as Mehraj-din-Malla @Deena son of Ab Gafar resident of Ganapora and Sameer Ahmad Bhat @Hikmat son of Mushtaq Ahmad resident of Udipora Langate.

They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 96/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Kralgund and investigation has been initiated.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood.

Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
