Kupwara 06 September: Asking New Delhi to stop atrocities on Kashmiris and humiliating them by cheap means in the name of national interest, AIP Supremo and MLA Langate Er. Rasheed has asked Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to break her silence over the custodial disappearance of Manzoor Ahmad Khan a youth from Devar Lolab, arrested by 27-RR few days back along with his another colleague Mr. Nasrullah who is fighting for life in SKIMS on account of brutal torture. After meeting the family of Manzoor Ahmad Khan in Kupwara Er. Rasheed said that if the Govt. has even iota of sense of responsibility towards its people it should have forced and persuaded Army to reveal the truth about Mr. Manzoor. Er. Rasheed said “If national media is making so much of hue and cry everyday by calling political leaders, lawyers, traders, journalists and businessmen as Pakistani spies by spreading false propaganda against them, why doesn’t anybody talk even a word about Manzoor Ahmad Khan and seek answers from the Army. If New Delhi uses NIA against Huriyat leaders, BAR president Mian Ab. Qayoom and many others to shut their mouth, why doesn’t it handover the cases like those of Manzoor Ahmad Khan, DSP Ayub Pandith and Shahid Bashir to NIA, so that truth comes out. These measures would never help New Delhi in fulfilling its designs to shut mouth of Kashmiris whose only fault is seeking resolution to J&K dispute”. Er. Rasheed asked Mehbooba Mufti if she can give a free hand to central agencies like NIA in Kashmir, why can’t she or J&K police give minimum possible justice to a common Kashmiri like Manzoor Ahmad Khan who was summoned in broad day light to the Army camp and as if there were man-eaters inside the camp who consumed him. Er. Rasheed asked state police to fulfill its duty and understand the fact that AFSPA by no means gives Army any right to kill people in custody and fake encounters. Er. Rasheed appealed New Delhi to revisit its policies and asked Mehbooba Mufti not to disgrace the chair she is holding.
