Jammu, Dec 06 (KNO): Jammu and Kashmir police on Sunday claimed to have arrested a person posing as NIA inspector in Trikuta Nagar area of Jammu district.

An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that a written complaint was lodged at police station Trikuta Nagar by one person namely Pritam Lal son of Sandhoku Ram, a resident of of Bhalwal tehsil stating that one Mainder Pal Singh son of Bopinder Singh, a resident of Chattogram village in Tral came in contact with him.

“Mainder Pal posed himself to be Inspector of Police presently attached in National Investigation Agency and hired his Innova vehicle no JK02CC/1150. Subsequently, Mainder Pal Singh convinced the complainant that one more vehicle is required to be attached with DySP of NIA. On this, the complainant purchased new Scorpio Car and gave it to Mainder Pal Singh who assured complainant that he will get Rs 60000/month for each vehicle,” the official said.

He said that initially, Mainder Pal Singh gave some payment to the complainant, however, later adopted dilly delaying tactics for giving payment on one pretext or the other.

“On this complainant became suspicious and reported the matter to Police Station Trikuta Nagar.”

The official further said that when the matter was reported to police, a team led by SHO police station Trikuta Nagar, Deepak Pathania, arrested the accused.

“A case FIR no.333/2020 U/S 420/170/171/IPC has been registered at PS Trikuta Nagar while further investigation into the matter is going on,” he said—(KNO)
