Srinagar, May 5: Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) chief Mehmood Shah has paid tribute to the slain militants Fayyaz and his associates who were killed in a gunfight with government forces at Chattabal, Srinagar.

LeT spokesperson Dr Abdullah Ghaznavi in a statement issued to news agency GNS quoted Mehmood Shah as saying that “many Indian forces personnel including Assistant Commander of CRPF were killed in more than 10-hour-long encounter”.

“Martyrdoms are the key aspect of Jihad. Competing with an army equipped with modern warfare weaponry with mere Kalashnikov and few bullets is evident to the bravery, boldness and defiance of freedom fighters,” Shah said.

LeT chief said the sacrifices of youth are bearing fruit for the freedom struggle. “This is the war between good and bad, truth and lies while the public and mujahideen continue to render sacrifices. Theirs would be such a triumph which would completely change the demographic map of India,” he said.

Mehmood Shah strongly condemned the killing of a youth who “was trampled to death by Indian forces vehicle” and termed it as an “atrocity”.

“India is committing ethnic cleansing. Its forces are committing severe atrocities under black draconian laws while no one is speaking up against the poor plight of Kashmiris,” he added.

Shah urged the human rights organizations to play their proactive role in the release of arrested Hurriyat leaders who he said are subjected to severe inhuman behaviour in jails.
