Baramulla: The released telephonic conversation between football turned militant Amir Siraj and his father, wherein Amir is heard saying that it was his wrong choice to join militancy; however, the family members of Amir have denied any conversation with Amir since he has gone missing.

Amir Siraj, a footballer turned militant from Sopore along with a Pakistani militant was killed in an encounter with security in Wanigam Payeen area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on 24th December.

The Jammu and Kashmir police in a statement had said that two JeM militants were killed who were identified as Abrar alias Langoo, a Pakistani resident and other local militant who was identified as Amir Siraj, a resident of Sopore.

However, a few days later, the a telephonic conversation wherein Amir Siraj is saying to his father that it was his wrong choice to be with the militants. Amir is also heard saying that he was cheated as some guys clicked his pictures with a gun went viral on social media sites.

Talking to Kashmir Despatch, Nazir, uncle of Amir Siraj said, “Though I have not heard the audio clip, I can tell you that the telephonic conversation is totally fake as I have not talked to Amir since he has gone missing. There is no truth in the conversation that is being shared”.

Sources informed Kashmir Despatch that army in Sopore had put all efforts for the return of slain and even had approached family also.
