Srinagar, Apr 16 (KS): Inspector General of Police on Tuesday evening said the rescue-and-search-operation at Gandabal Batwara Srinagar, will continue until all bodies are recovered.

The top police officer, as per news agency Kashmir Scroll, said that Police Station Ram Munshi Bagh received information about the incident this morning, following which the officers from the station rushed to the site to assist in the rescue operation.

“As per preliminary reports, the boat drowned while wading through the waters swollen in the aftermath of recent rains,” Birdi said adding, initial enquiry revealed that there were fifteen persons on board the boat of which six succumbed due to drowning while other five were rescued.

“SDRF, NDRF and on special requisition MARCOS have been part of the rescue operation to locate the three missing persons,” he said.

“All the Police Stations falling along river Jhelum have been asked to remain vigil even as the rescue-and-search-operation will continue until all bodies are recovered,” the officer said further. (KS)
