Srinagar, Jan 23 (KS): The dry spell persists, with the expectation of rain and snow in the coming days in Jammu and Kashmir.

An official from MeT informed news agency Kashmir Scroll that dry weather likely to continue till 24th January. The official said that from 25th-27th January, weather will remain generally cloudy with light snow at isolated higher reaches.

From 28th-29th January, the official said, weather will remain generally cloudy with possibility of light to moderate rain/snow (lower, middle & higher reaches) over many places.

From 30th-31st January, the official said, possibility of light to moderate rain/snow at widespread places most likely. On 1st February, the official said, there is possibility of light rain/snow at scattered places.

Moderate fog, the official said likely to continue over plains of Jammu Division till 25th January.

The system may Lead to temporary closure of roads of higher reaches and important passes like Sinthan pass, Mughal Road, Sadhna & Razdan pass, Zojila etc. during 28-31st Jan, the official said.

Travellers, the official said are advised to Plan accordingly.

Regarding the minimum temperatures, the official said Srinagar experienced a low of minus 5.0°C against minus 5.3°C on previous night. Qazigund, the official said, experienced minus 4.8°C against minus 5.2°C on the previous night.

Pahalgam, the official said, experienced a low of minus 6.2°C against minus 6.9°C on the previous night. Kokernag, the official said, experienced minus 1.5°C against minus 2.6°C on the previous night.

Kupwara, the official said, experienced a low of minus 4.9°C against minus 6.0°C on the previous night. Gulmarg, the official said, experienced a low of minus 4.0°C against minus 4.5°C on the previous night.

Jammu maintained 5.0°C, consistent with the previous night, the official said. (KS)
