Srinagar November 6:The Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfare (DoPPW) today conducted a number of camps in Srinagar to assist pensioners in the use of various digital modes to submit their Jeevan Pramaan – Digital Life Certificate (DLC).

Shri Vishal Kumar, Under Secretary to the Government of India in the Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfare, is on a two-day visit to Srinagar to sensitize the masses and promote DLCs extensively.

Today, Shri Kumar visited different locations in Srinagar, including SBI Main Branch, Srinagar, SBI Badami Bagh, and SBI Bemina, to interact with pensioners and address their queries. He also met with representatives of Pensioners’ Welfare Associations and encouraged them to hold camps for pensioners to facilitate DLC submission.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Vishal Kumar said that DoPPW is committed to making the process of DLC submission as easy and convenient as possible for all pensioners. The Department encourages all pensioners to take advantage of the various digital modes available to submit their Life Certificates, he added.

In 2014, DoPPW commenced the submission of DLCs using biometric devices. Subsequently, the Department engaged with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) to develop a Face Authentication technology system based on the Aadhar database. This system allows pensioners to submit their DLCs from any Android-based smartphone.

The Face Authentication technology has made the process of DLC submission more accessible and affordable for pensioners, especially those in remote areas or with mobility issues.

To further enhance the ‘Ease of Living’ for Central Government pensioners, DoPPW launched a nationwide campaign in November 2022 to promote the use of DLC/Face Authentication technology.

The campaign was a huge success, with more than 35 lakh DLCs being issued to Central Government pensioners.
This year, DoPPW is organizing a nationwide campaign from November 1 to 30, 2023, at 500 locations in 100 cities across the country, targeting 50 lakh pensioners.

The campaign is being held in collaboration with 17 Pension Disbursing Banks, Ministries/Departments, Pensioners’ Welfare Associations, UIDAI, and MeitY.
