Bandipora, March 10:

The Department of Animal Husbandry Bandipora Tuesday organized a day-long awareness-cum-training programme at Bonakoot village under special Assistance to the States for Control of Animal Diseases(ASCAD).

Chief Animal Husbandry Officer Dr Altaf Kangoo was chief guest on the occasion while the programme was attended by a large number of cattle and poultry rearing farmers besides doctors and technical staff of the department. Dr Kangoo assured the farmers of every possible support to the farmers through the department and asked farmers to take full benefits of welfare schemes kept available for the farmers by the Government. He asked the farmers to be in touch with their technical staff for any assistance.

During the day-long training programme, experts deliberated on various issues including mastitis and its prevention and control , de-worming and rabies. The prevention and safety measures to be taken due to the eminent threat by NCOVID-19 (Coronovirus) were also discussed. Technical Officer Dr Arif Khan on the occasion briefed the farmers about the Programme and informed them about various centrally and state sponsored schemes available within the department. He urged the farmers to keep in close contact with the department to avail the benefits of these schemes.

Farmers on the occasion were made aware different disease which are prevalent in the cattle. Dr Mohammad Ramzan Chopan discussed threadbare the treatment of several disease which are found in the animal including Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) and the treatments and preventions to avoid these diseases. Farmers were also sensitized about the hygiene and necessary care while dealing with cattle and poultry in order to prevent possibility of spreading diseases from animals to humans.

During the programme, representatives from J&K bank and Lead Bank informed about the social security schemes including KCC, DEDS, PVSF besides various loan schemes available for the farmers. Among others Block Veterinary Officer Dr AA War, Veterinary Assistant Surgeon Senior Pharmacist Manzoor Ahmad Lone, besides other technical staff were present on the occasion.
