GANDERBAL, FEBRUARY 20: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Ganderbal, Shafqat Iqbal today chaired a meeting to review the progress made in the execution of Manasbal Lake development project under PMDP and to review the action taken with regard to the directions passed by the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Pandurang K Pole during a meeting held on 8 th February 2021.
The meeting was attended by ACR Ganderbal, Baseer Ahmad, Chief
planning Officer, SE, R&B, CEO, SDA, Tehsildar Lar, BDO Lar and other concerned.

At the outset, threadbare discussion was held on the progress made on development works of Manasbal Lake like pathway construction, rehabilitation of households living within the 100 feet periphery of the lake, construction of septic tanks and waste management pits, weeding, desilting and other related works.
The DDC instructed SE, R&B to pace up the work process on the pathway construction and related works adjacent to Manasbal Lake.
Tehsildar Lar was directed to start demarcation along the pathway so that work may not suffer and was asked to conduct survey for identification of such households who reside within the 100 feet periphery of the lake and identify the suitable patch of land for rehabilitation of affected families on war footing.
The meeting also discussed the issues of flow of sewerage into the lake by locals, latrine waste and poultry waste.
The DDC directed the concerned to identify such households whose latrine waste flow into the lake and initiate necessary measures immediately for stopping the same besides initiate actions against the unauthorized poultry farms who operate on periphery of the lake.


To stop the flow of sewerage into the lake, BDO Lar was directed to chalk out a plan for providing community type soakage pits to all such households and initiate the work immediately under 14 th FC.
The DDC exhorted upon the officers to work in cooperation and redouble their efforts so that the general environment of the lake is preserved and its glory
is restored.
