MARCH 07: To educate progressive farmers about modern methodologies of farming, the District Development Commissioner, Ganderbal, Shafqat Iqbal, flagged off farmers exposure tour under MIDH scheme, organized by Horticulture Department, here today.

As many as 65 farmers of the district are visiting Central Institute of Temperature Horticulture, Srinagar, during the tour with the objective to get exposed to the new technological interventions in Horticulture like different modern ways for establishment of new orchards, propagation techniques for raising quality fruit plants and modern methodologies of farming. Interacting with the farmers, the DDC urged them to avail benefits of the programme for better results in horticulture produce.

He said that such tours will help the farmers to acquaint themselves with the latest technology and farming practices. He also asked the Chief Horticulture Officer to ensure more and more such visits are carried out for progressive farmers of the district so that fruit growers could be made aware about emerging trends in horticulture farming and cultivation of different fruit trees on scientific lines.
