Srinagar, April 17:(GNS) In wake of surge in number of Covid-19 cases in valley, SSP Budgam Tahir Saleem held a meeting with various Imams and religious leaders to chalk out the SOPs to contain Covid-19 spread here in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Saturday.

In a statement to GNS, the police said that owing to the surge in Covid-19 cases, Tahir Saleem-JKPS SSP Budgam held an interaction cum awareness meet with the Imams amd religious leaders of various Masjids of district Budgam at Conference hall of District Police Headquarters Budgam.

The statement further stated that the meet was held with due care of Covid-19 protocol. Imams & religious leaders of Masjids who participated in the meet were briefed about the present challenges with regard to COVID-19 containment measures.

The participants were requested to ensure that people follow guidelines/SOPs of covid containment at religious places and also sensitize people about the second wave of covid at religious places during sermons. Immams were requested to make utmost efforts to maintain social distancing and follow other Covd-19 guidelines at Masjids while offering prayers during the holy month of Ramadhan, he said.

SSP Budgam stressed that awareness of the community and its involvement is paramount to tackle the Covid-19 situation in the district amid a surge in cases. He also stressed on them to spread awareness about the importance of Covid vaccination and all those eligible should get themselves vaccinated at an earliest, he said.(GNS)
