Handwara 18 September: Expressing deep concern on the contents of affidavit filed by central Govt. before the Supreme Court over Rohangi refugees, AIP Supremo and MLA Langate Er. Rasheed has appealed central Govt. to reconsider its decision of informing Supreme Court that these refugees are a threat for India’s security. While interacting with various deputations in Handwara and Langate today Er. Rasheed said “the current Govt. should give up the approach of seeing every incident through communal prism and needs to understand that no one leaves his home without a reason. The Rohangi Muslim’s migration issue needs to be seen purely through humanitarian angle and not the way the problem is being projected.  Let New Delhi not forget that there were lacks of Tamil Refugees who lived in India and even a good number of Tibetans are living in India as migrants. The Rohagies like Tamils will love to go back to their native places once the atmosphere turns conducive. If people like Tasleema Nasreen and Salman Rashidi are not threat to India’s security who have hurt the sentiments of Muslims, how come should poor Rohangis who are facing genocide be a threat to India’s national security”. Er. Rasheed reminded New Delhi of its claims that India is the second largest Muslim dominated country and as such should be given at least observers status in organizations of Islamic conference and added that it is moral and legal duty of New Delhi to help helpless Rohangis. Er. Rasheed appealed Central Govt. to  reconsider its decision and play its role in persuading the Myanmar Govt. in stopping the genocide of Rohangies, so that these refugees can return back to their native places at an earliest.
