Education Minister inaugurates Provincial-level Career Counseling & Guidance session

SRINAGAR, DECEMBER 05 [KNZ] : Minister of Education, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari today said that career counselling cells have been constituted in every higher secondary school so that every 12th class pass-out gets the complete information about new courses in this competitive world beyond doctor and engineer profession.

The Minister was speaking during the inauguration of Provincial-level Career Counseling & Guidance session organized by Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) at Girls Higher Secondary School Kothi Bagh.

Recently appeared in 12th class examinations, 20 students were selected from Srinagar, Ganderbal, Budgam, and Pulwama districts for the guidance session. The main aim of the programme is guiding the 12th class students to opt for the career of their preference and calibre.

“This is the right time where a student needs proper guidance in choosing career options and subjects accordingly,” the Minister said.

He said students can also avail benefits of various scholarship programmes which would go a long way in polishing their skills and achieve higher targets in their career.

On the occasion, while interacting with students Bukhari informed that the Government has already approved upgradation of 600 schools from Primary to Middle, Middle to High and High to Higher Secondary level. Besides, funds have been sanctioned for upgradation of infra at these educational institutes.

Director School Education Kashmir, Dr GN Itoo said that on the directions of the Education Minister, the Department has started Rubaru programme across the valley where grievances of the students are being heard and redressed accordingly.

Experts and faculty members from the University of Kashmir, NIT, DIET and DSEK provided Career Counseling & Guidance to the students during the programme.

CEOs, Principals of the DSEK, Principal State Institute of Education, Mehboob Hussain and other concerned were also present on the occasion.
