Consider Dual Sittings of Friday Congregational Prayers: SSP Baramulla

Baramulla, Apr 19: (GNS) Baramulla police has Monday announced a slew of measures including roping in of scholars and local mosque clerics in its efforts to fight the onslaught of CoViD infection in this north-Kashmir district.

In various meetings held at District Headquarters and other places, police emphasised on specific measures and built a consensus on seeking of active support of people for cooperation to civil administration in Micro Containment Zones for testing purposes and restriction of movement. Police conducted large-scale awareness drives, meeting with Ulema (Scholars) and Imams (Clerics) of mosques for public outreach besides strict implementation of SOPs.

People were asked for considering of dual sittings of Salah on eve of Jummah and other prayers, wherever possible to thin out gatherings.

The distribution of masks at public places was also undertaken besides sought cooperation from various market and transport associations for controlling the spread of viral infection.

Urging the people to render their cooperation, SSP Baramulla has said that public should take COVID more seriously and should extend their support and discipline to minimize its chances of spread among the public at large.

“We will keep a strict vigil and action will be taken against any violation especially against the people roaming about in public places without masks”, an officer said adding that “People should feel at ease in contacting us whenever and wherever the need may arise”. (GNS)
