December 05: Acting tough against social crimes, Awantipora Police have arrested 04 gamblers from a gambling site and seized stake money.
A Police party from PS Pampore raided a gambling site in village Bagander Pampore following an input about gambling activities and apprehended 04 gamblers. They have been identified as Adil Maqbool Dar resident of Namlabal Pampore, Mudasir Ahmad Mir, Mehraj ud din and Fayaz Ahmad Hajam all residents of Kadlabal Pampore.
Playing cards and stake money of ₹13,330/- have also been seized from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to PS Pampore where they remain in custody.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 97/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Pampore and investigation has been initiated.
Persons found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per law. Community members are requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.
