Srinagar, Sep 11, KNT: In a heartwarming gesture, a non-governmental organization ‘Al-Noor Yateem Trust’ organized a mass marriage where as many as 100 women mostly orphans and from downtrodden families from different districts of Jammu and Kashmir tied the knot.
The ceremony took place at a Marriage Hall in the Bemina locality of Kashmir capital Srinagar.
‘Al-Noor Yateem Trust’ chairman, Shabir Ahmed told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that they have been adopting orphaned girls and hosting their wedding ceremony every year.Every year we perform the ritual of marrying our adopted daughters in a mass marriage function and perform ‘Nikha’ for each one of them under the supervision of their legal guardian,” he said adding that ‘Nikha’ is a boon but in today’s society, it has become a bane for the poor girls.
Another member of the Trust said that they arrange mass marriage and provide all essentials to couples which helps them to start their life easily. “We don’t organize an extravagant wedding rather, we save that money and help those who find it financially difficult to get married,” he said adding that they are really grateful to people who contribute unstintingly for the welfare of the society.
One of the girls who got married at the ceremony said that she had no words to express her gratitude to ‘Al-Noor Yateem Trust’. [KNT]
