Srinagar 30 Aug : Following her mother’s emotional plea, the university mates of abducted Tral youth on Thursday appealed for his release on “humanitarian grounds.”

The students of faculty BSc and MSc Sericulture of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, Kashmir (SKUAST-K) appealed for the release of Asif Ahmad Rather who was abducted last night from his home in Tral.

Asif, who is pursuing masters in Sericulture at the varsity, was abducted by a group of masked gunmen from his residence in Pinglish village of Tral last night. He is a son of a policeman Rafiq Ahmad Rather.

“We don’t have any idea why this happened to him. All we know is that he is such a helpful person in the entire college. Asif has never indulged in any illegal activity. We request to his abductors to set him free as he is innocent,” a student said in her appeal.
Another student said Asif is a ‘bright student and humble soul.” “We hope whoever has abducted him will safely release him as soon as possible,” said another student.

A junoior said that they know Asif from past four years and that he couldn’t indulge in any illegal activity.
“He, as a college senior, is very helping and kind. We appeal the abductors to release him,” the student added.
