Srinagar, Jul 28 (KNO): The traditional 9th Muharram procession was taken out in Shikaras in the interiors of Dal Lake here on Friday.

As per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), a group of mourners at first gathered in the Sand Mohalla, Rainawari, and after that they travelled from one mohalla to another in Shikaras.

Amid slogans and nohas about Imam Hussain (AS), they reached Hasanabad Imam Bargarh Srinagar where this unique Shikara rally ended.

A group of mourners while talking to KNO said it is a traditional rally and has been taken for decades. It was originally introduced at the time of Dogra rule, they said.

“It is a traditional rally and I have personally participated in it for more than fifteen years,” said one of the persons in the procession.

The mourners expressed gratitude to the administration for allowing the 8th Muharram procession after three decades. “We want to thank the government for allowing it,” they said—(KNO)
