Baramulla, August 25: Forces on Tuesday destroyed a live grenade in Kreeri area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district eight days after a gunfight in the area.

An official told Kashmir Despatch that locals of Kreeri found a live grenade in a Walnut orchard on Tuesday afternoon accordingly police was informed.

The official said soon after a joint team of 29 RR, Police rushed to the spot along with bomb disposal squad and destroyed the grenade.

SSP Baramulla Abdul Qayoom also confirmed to Kashmir Despatch, he said today afternoon it was recovered from the site and soon after a team destroyed it.

Pertinently, in 32-hour long gunfight which took place on 17 August, three militants, 2 soldiers, 2 CRPF men, SPO were killed.
