Pulwama Feb 26 : Police on Friday claimed to have recovered 202 kilograms of poppy straw from a residential house in Pulwama district of south Kashmir.

“Police received information that a person namely Ashiq Hussain of Badriwan has kept a huge quantity of poppy straw in his cow shed.

On receipt of this a team of Police headed by SDPO Litter Furqan Qadri accompanied with SHO Litter Hafeez Choudary raided the cow shed and recovered 18 bags containing Poppy Straw weighing about 202 Kgs,” a police official told GNS. He said that accused has been arrested.

In this connection, he said, a case (FIR No. 04/2021) under relevant sections of NDPS Act stands registered in police station Litter and investigation set into motion.

Police has also sought cooperation from the general public for information to control the drug menace in Pulwama.(GNS)
