Bandipora, Dec 03 (KNO): The residents of several areas in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district are facing immense hardships due to unscheduled power cuts.

The residents from various areas including Sumlar, Arin, Bapora, Gamroou, Dardpora and Gundpora said that for the past one month the power scenario has worsened as the department has resorted to unscheduled and frequent power cuts.

“Power outages occur five times a day in our areas for the last two months which has added to people’s worries,” locals said.

“We live under darkness. The severe lack of electricity supply has affected students in the area as they are forced to study under candlelight,” Majeeb Dar, a local said.

“Not everyone belongs to a rich family to afford an inverter, this should be considered by the concerned department,” he said, adding that they are fed up with frequent power cuts.

“PDD has failed to provide the electricity as per the announced schedule in our area. Although we have informed the management many times but to no avail,” Aqib Manzoor, another local said, adding that they live in a metered area and have been facing power outage for more than 9 hours.

Meanwhile, the locals requested the higher ups to look into the matter and solve their genuine demands at an earliest so that they can heave a sigh of relief.

An official from the administration said that he will look into the matter.

“I will solve this issue by talking to the concerned department,” an official said—(KNO)
