Ganderbal 19 Feb : Our wet lands are important part of ecosystem, which need to be preserved under all circumstances. The migratory birds during winter season find these wet lands in Jammu and Kashmir as most suitable habitat but the poachers and hunters are their main enemies who cause irreparable loss by hunting these birds.

Ganderbal Police has started a special drive to act against these hunters and in this regard, FIR 21/ 2021 U/S 51 wild life protection act has been registered at Police Station Ganderbal. Two accused persons namely 1. Javid Ahmad Malla S/O Mohammad Yousuf Malla R/O. Fethapora Ganderbal 2. Mushtaq Ahmad Malla S/O. Ghulam Rasool Malla R/O. Fethapora Ganderbal have been arrested in the instant case who have misused their licensed weapon and caused huge loss to the wet lands in Shallbugh area of District Ganderbal by killing of considerable number of aquatics birds.

SSP Ganderbal Shri Khilal Ahmed Poswal- JKPS has taken up matter with District Magistrate Ganderbal for cancellation of Licenses of such persons who are misusing the licensed weapons and causing destruction of migratory birds. Teams have been constituted to keep watch in wetland area and ensure action against these culprits.
