Suspended VLW arbitrarily reinstated by ACD Ganderbal

VLW was involved in grant of permission for commercial complex, permission was supposed for only stock and staff room

Ganderbal 01 Nov (KNZ):Suspended VLW block Kangan Muneer Ahmad was reinstated arbitrarily by ACD Ganderbal without any specific reason for the reinsatation .

Amid Covid-19 pandemic, illegal constructions was going unabated in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district with concerned authorities watching as mute spectators.

In a bizzar act the VLW along with local sarpanch granted permission to illegal construction which was not their legal jurisdiction.

The permissions for construction of staff and stock room was only granted .The owner disgraded the permissions and contracted comercial complex.

It is also pretinent to mention that irrigation canal has also been encroached by construction of the comercial complex.

Despite ban on constructions along Srinagar leh Highway,large number of illegal structures including shopping complexes have came up on sgr leh highway at Wanderpora Wussan near Petrol pump in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.

In order to prevent vandalizing of agriculture land, authorities recently banned construction work RD act( barring any construction within 50 feet) along sides of the highway ,but there seems to be no let up in the construction of structures as scores of shopping complexes and residential houses have come up on either side of it.

The illegal structures had come up near Srg-leh highway, on agricultural land and in violations of Land Revenue Act and Jammu and Kashmir High Court directions. The Ribbon Development Act is also being violated as the required distance on either side of the highway is not maintained.

Sources said that over dozens illegal structures had come up in Sub Division Kangan from past five months.

The locals alleged a nexus between concerned authorities and violators.

The residents of these areas said that despite Revenue, Flood Control and beacon officials frequently visiting these areas, illegal constructions are going on unabated in the district for the reasons better known to officials at helm of affairs.

The locals of several areas alleged that the authorities have demolished the structures of only common people while as the influential persons were given a free run. “Whenever anyone raises a tin shed, the authorities demolish it but the huge shopping complexes are being constructed right but no one touches them”, said a local.

When Contacted SDM Kangan Hakeem Tanveer he said,I have directed Tehsildar Kangan to verify the permission and also wrote to DC Ganderbal about the matter .
