Srinagar, Sep 19, KNT: A woman allegedly committed suicide yesterday in the house of her husband in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district, but the family of the deceased woman today claimed that she was poisoned by her husband.

“Police have already arrested the husband of my deceased sister but we demand the arrest of all family members of accused Ghulam Rasool Wani who hails from Namtahal Budgam,” said Bilal Ahmed.

“Shaheena Akhtar, a resident of Charar-e-Sharif was married to one Ghulam Rasool Wani of Namtahal in 2011. The couple had a son after the marriage but acrimony developed in their relationship after Ghulam Rasool Wani took away all her golden ornaments and spent the money for his personal needs. With no money in hand, he started harassing her on one or the other pretext,” Bilal Ahmed Baba, the brother of the deceased woman told news agency KNT.

The family members of the deceased woman emerged in Press Enclave Srinagar and demanded arrest of all the family members of the woman’s husband.

“Rasool Wani poisoned my sister. He had threatened her of dire consequences and he finally killed my sister,” Bilal Ahmed alleged.

The protesting family members alleged that Ghulam Rasool Wani was torturing his wife and neighbours are witness to it. “After poisoning his wife, he fled from the spot and later was arrested by police,” they said and demanded stern punishment to Wani and his other family members.

“It is not a suicide case but a murder,” the protesting family members from Charar-e-Sharif told KNT.
