Ganderbal Jul 25 (KNZ):Villagers of Kachnambal and adjoining areas of Kangan tehsil in Ganderbal district up in arms against use of sub-standard material in construction of 8-km link road from Lari preng to Kachnambal,
The road is being constructed under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY).
Locals are aghast aginast the construction agency ( Hafiz Construction) for using substandard quality of material in construction of the road.
They alleged that the contractor in connivance with the engineers concerned has been compromising with the quality and even the dimensions (width) of the road.
“During the past six months, the contractor has metalled just a little portion of the road. Not just the material used is of poor quality but at some places, even the width of the road is not proper,” a local resident said
AE concerned who was present on spot said admitted the contractor’s
misappropriate.
Villagers said that using poor quality bitumen for the construction of the road was laid on dust in violation of the laid down guidelines,which exposes the contractor-official nexus.
When Kashmir News Zone-KNZ Contacted Assistant Executive Engineer, PMGSY, Farooq Ahmad ,he assured action against the contractor.
