Ganderbal:- At least Five sheep were attacked and Killed by a pack of stray dogs in Ramwari Gund area of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Tuesday early morning.

Locals of the area said that 10-15 stray dogs attacked a flock of sheep of Abdul Rehim Kullo son of Ghulam Rasool Kullo resident of Ramwari Gund village on Tuesday early morning and killed atleast five sheep, and other sheep received injuries.

They said the we woke up hearing loud cries of Sheep and were shocked to see some some sheep running helter Skelter and some writhing in pain laying in a pool of blood.

The Victim Ab Rehim Kullo said that the death if sheep caused Rs 1.50 lakh loss them as they are all high breed sheep and there was no insurance cover. He urged the district administration to provide ex-gratia to them to save them from financial loss.

However residents said that from the past couple of months a group of stray dogs are roaming in the locality and not only the livestock resulting in panic created among the local people of the area.

The people appealed to the district administration Ganderbal to take immediate steps to catch these dogs otherwise people will take action by their own.

Talking to Kashmir Reader Sheep husbandry department Supervisor Block Haknar Fayaz Ahmad Rather said we are assessing the situation after received the phone call immediately our team visited the spot and administered first aid to the injured sheep immediately.

Our staff will be visiting daily for necessary treatment and dressing to injured sheep and we will submit a detailed report to my higher official’s for compensation.
