President Snowmobile Owners Union Sonamarg Kashmir says we are helpless

Ganderbal 05 Jan : Snow bikers in health resort Sonamarg overcharges tourists for ride and authorities are no were seen to regulate it.

A group of Tourists from Mumbai said that they were overcharged for a short ride.

They said that we were asked to pay an extra amount for sitting on the front seat of the bike.

President Snowmobile Owners Union Sonamarg Kashmir told Valley Online that we have appealed to the admin to regulate it, but they failed to do so.

He said that we had appealed to officials to cancel their registration who were ever found guilty.

Meanwhile, sources said that only a few of them are registered, and most of them are running without proper documents.

They said that neither they have registration nor pollution certificates.

Environmentalists say these motorbikes are a threat to the environment and ecology, which is also a violation of high court order.

They said that these bikes were banned in several tourist destinations in India, but no one is checking them in Sonmarg, which is the biggest threat to Glaciers.

When Valley Online Correspondent contacted CEO Sonamarg Development Authority, he said he have nothing to do with this as their is Tourist Police for that.

He said that still he will keep our men at the spot from tomorrow.

Despite repeated attempts to contact Incharge Tourist Police Sonamarg didn’t received the phone.

Meanwhile, Valley Online Correspondent tried to contact Pollution Control Board who were not available for comments.
