Srinagar, Apr 17 (KNO): Shab-e-Qadr or Lailatul Qadr—the night that marks the revelation of the first verses of the holy Quran to the Prophet Muhammad (SAW), will be observed tonight across Jammu & Kashmir.

The biggest congregational prayers are expected to be held at Dargah Hazratbal and at historic Jamia Masjid in Nowhatta area of Srinagar, which remained closed for the prayers last Friday.

A top official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that there will be no restrictions on the congregational prayers tonight. “The Jamia Masjid will remain open for the Shab-e-Qadr tonight,” he said.

The blessed night of Shab-e-Qadr is considered the most important night in the Islamic calendar where Muslims spend the whole night attending the religious gathering and praying all night till dawn.

Officials said that special arrangements have been put in place for the holy night at Dargah Hazratbal and other shrines and Masjids, where a huge rush of devotees is expected tonight.

Besides, the traffic police department also issued traffic advisory for tonight to ensure that the people will not face hardships while travelling to attend special prayers—(KNO)
