GANDERBAL, August 20 : The District Administration here on Friday issued an order imposing restrictions on the movement of day picnickers to the tourist resort of Sonmarg and Mansbal for the next two weekends.

According to the order of which a copy lies with Kashmir Despatch reads, Whereas, it has been observed that a large number of local tourists are thronging Mansbal and Sonamarg tourist destinations especially on the weekend and Whereas, heavy influx of tourists poses danger of resurgence of COVID – 19 pandemic in view of possible violation of COVID appropriate behavior.

Whereas, in order to prevent the spread of COVID – 19 infection at above tourist destinations, it is necessary to take some immediate measures.

In view of the above circumstances, restrictions are imposed under 144 of the CrPC 1973, Disaster Management Act, 2005 and Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897 as follows:

On 21st – 22nd and 28th – 29th August, 2021 (Saturday – Sunday) only such persons / tourists shall be allowed to proceed towards Mansbal and Sonamarg who possess a proof of confirmed booking in the hotels, no day picnickers shall be allowed to visit Mansbal and Sonamarg on the above mentioned dates.

CEO, SDA / WMDA shall conduct awareness program for all hoteliers so that they are sensitized to adopt COVID appropriate behavior.

DY SP Ganderbal (HQR) shall establish Nakas at Barsoo and Manasbal to allow bonafide people.

SDPO Kangan and Dy SP Traffic Ganderbal shall establish nakas at Kangan, Gund and Gagangeer so as to allow only Kargil traffic and bonafide people.

Any violation of the above directions will, therefore, lead to prosecution under section 5109 the Disaster Management Act, 2005 the order further reads.
