GANDERBAL, APRIL 23: Commissioner Secretary, Jal Shakti Department, M. Raju, today visited Ganderbal where he chaired a meeting to review the implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), a centrally sponsored programme aimed at providing tap water to every rural household besides progress on vital projects of the department in district.

District Development Commissioner, Ganderbal, Krittika Jyotsna, Chief Engineer Jal Shakti Department, Kashmir, Iftikar Ahmad Wani, SE, Hydraulic Circle Ganderbal, Executive Engineer Jal Shakti, AEEs other concerned officers attended the meeting.

Threadbare discussions were held upon the progress of JJM, total households provided with tap connections, action plan for 2021-22, priority areas, campaign to provide piped water supply to schools, AWCs, GP buildings, health centres, water quality monitoring and financial plan.

Executive Engineer briefed the chair through a power point presentation about the progress made on implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission and other ongoing vital projects in the district.

While reviewing the progress of providing Functional House Holds Tap Connections (PHTC) in the district, it was informed that 41551 are total rural households and all are provided tap connections. It was informed that Ganderbal district is among the 18 districts of the country, which has achieved the feat in the first year of the commissioning of the JJM scheme.

While reviewing the progress on to provide piped water supply to schools, AWCs, Health/Wellness centres, etc. it was informed that 97 percent target is achieved for which Commissioner Secretary impressed upon the Jal Shakti Department to step up efforts and gear up their men and machinery for providing 100 per cent Tap Connections to all the institutions in the district.

He urged upon the concerned to step up their efforts and expedite registering all connections carrying special camps in this regard.

Raju said that the government is committed to provide piped water to all households under Jal Jeevan Mission. He also emphasized for ensuring regular water quality monitoring and surveillance by way of conducting lab testing both at the source and delivery point.
