Srinagar, Aug 17 (KNO): Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday arrived in Leh on a two-day visit.

Reports reaching news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) said that Rahul was accorded warm welcome by party leaders and workers at Leh airport after he arrived. Hundreds of workers were seen raising slogans in favour of Rahul and the party.

This is the first visit of Rahul Gandhi to Ladakh after it was separated from Jammu & Kashmir and accorded status of a Union Territory.

Sources in the Party leadership told KNO Rahul Gandhi is expected to hold deliberations with Leh and Kargil units during his two-day stay here.

“He is on a private visit here and he will be meeting youth Congress body here,” Tsering Namgyal, party Leh district president, told KNO.

He said Rahul wouldn’t be holding any outdoor political activity.

Meanwhile, another senior party leader wishing not to be named said that Rahul Gandhi may visit tourist places like Pangong Lake.

Rahul is visiting Ladakh at a time when authorities have announced elections for Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council- Kargil—(KNO)
