Srinagar, June 18 : The death toll in a car bomb blast in Pulwama district of south Kashmir yesterday rose to two as one more soldier has succumbed to injuries at army hospital here,officials said on Tuesday.

They said soldier Ajit Kumar (14875410P) succumbed to injuries today morning at army’s 92 base hospital Badamibagh Srinagar.

On Monday, sepoy Badal Singh (driver; belt no. 14870207P) succumbed to injuries he had sustained along with 19 other soldiers at Aarihal Pulwama.

Pertinently, militants blew up a car-laden with explosives around 6:00 pm yesterday causing severe damage to 44 RR’s bullet proof vehicle, injuring 20 soldiers and two civilians who were working in their fields adjacent to the spot.

Police have taken samples of the car and investigations are underway to ascertain the owner of the vehicle and other connected links.

Army’s Srinagar based defense spokesman Col Rajesh Kalia in a statement issued to GNS confirmed death of two soldiers in the blast.

“Two soldiers brought to the hospital with severe contusions/concussions, have succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment in 92 Base Hospital. We deeply mourn the demise of our bravehearts,” he said. (GNS)
