Hospital Waste generated not properly disposed which may effect patients:Officials

Ganderbal 17 Dec (KNZ):The Pollution Control Committee Ganderbal on Saturday conducted an inspection of District Hospital Ganderbal.The team was headed by Er Bilal Ahmad Khan

During the inspection, the team found that BMW waste generated during hospital activities is not being properly disposed as per the guidelines of BMW Rules 2016.

Leaching from the shed was quite visible which can lead to Hepatitis A, B and C if ground water gets affected.

The matter was brought into the Notice of concerned authorities. No online monitoring system with regard to waste disposal was in place.

Team also found that BMW waste is being taken by kashmir Health Care a Common Biomedical waste facility treament centre is not performing their duties as per the guide lines prescribed under BMW guide lines.

While checking the log book for the same it was found that the waste is being taken once in a week and no segregation is being done while handling the hazardous aunatances.

No treatment disposal was in place for liquid and solid waste generation.KNZ
