March 09: Continuing its drive against drug dealings in Budgam and Srinagar, Police in a series of actions have arrested three drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances from their possession.In Budgam, Officers at a checkpoint near Ashad Pora Beerwah intercepted two persons identified as Mehraj Ahmad Kambay resident of Suchin Boneth and Ishfaq Ahmad Ganie resident of Suranhal Batpora. Officers were able to recover 200 grams of Charas and 240 capsules of Spasmoproxyvon from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to Police Station Beerwah where they remain in custody.

Case FIR No. 43/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Beerwah and further investigation into the matter has been initiated.In Srinagar, Officers at a checkpoint near Hari Singh High Street intercepted an individual identified as Muzafar Ahmad Malik resident of Kakapora Pulwama. During checking officers were able to recover 115 grams of Charas from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.Case FIR No. 17/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Shaheed Gunj and further investigation into the matter has been initiated.Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace as reiterated in our community meetings.
